What and where to buy.

Once you have decided how you want to upgrade you system, you need to research what you need and where to buy the items.

You need to decide if you want to buy the items physically, or online. I prefer to go to my local computer store and purchase from them since I’m an impatient man. And since I’m at the office most of the time, there’s no one at home to greet Fed-ex man anyways.

However, if you like waiting, make sure you scour for reputable online stores, take a look at their policies. Look for the fine print. Print out your order slip. Make sure that you type out exactly what you want and need. File everything in a folder so you can use this as reference if the store screws up your order.

Lastly, make sure that what you receive is exactly what you ordered. Not an equivalent product or substitute. A card powered by ATI processor differs from a card made by ATI. Watch out, or you may get an inferior product instead.

The advantage of online stores is that they stock from many manufacturers. Even smaller brands are represented unlike computer stores which stock the bigger brands or better selling models.

Also important is the warranty. Some resellers take it upon themselves to replace defective products, usually within a month of purchase of the product. Some may need you to go to the manufacturer’s office to replace the product instead.
