Optical drives and burner prices have dropped and now are very cheap to pick up. With a new DVD you can watch DVD’s, and also benefit from the faster speed reading of CD’s.

Like the hard disk with IDE connection, you first need to configure the optical drive into slave or master.

• Disconnect any cable from an existing drive. Remove the screws holding the drive and take out your old optical drive.


• You can first connect the ATA cable to your drive OR you can place the drive inside the CD bay an then, secure the drive using screws.

Once you have installed the drive, start up your computer. Once Windows starts up, you see it prompting you to install a new drive at the the bottom right of you screen.

Follow the instructions to install drivers. The driver should be packaged in the box along with the drive.
